Make Your Voice Heard

As a member of Columbia's City Council, Mike's job is to better the lives of all Columbians. The best way Mike can do this is by getting input from you so he can take your thoughts, ideas, and views and fight to make them heard in the Council chambers.

Take a few minutes to let Mike know what is on your mind and together we will Move Columbia Forward.

What issue facing Columbia is most important to you?

Q: Given the opportunity, what would you improve or change about Columbia?
A: Remove the City Manager and Police from their positions. Stop corporate handouts like the Dairy Farm and the horrible (and frankly illegal) TIF for Broadway Hotel. Stop spending 1,000,000 for a small parcel for a park when the city is crying for safety and security. Cut ties with the bogus company that processes online payments and charges the outrageous fees. Plan ahead for growth. It is hard to go East/West and especially North/South without having to make turns at some point. DO NOT partner with the schools on transportation. There is more risk than benefit for the city. In fact, privatization through Uber, Lyft or whoever would probably be more efficient at moving people from place to place. RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN from the county and the Fairgrounds. This is a perfect example of the proverbial money pit the city should not get sucked in to. Should I go on?

Q: Given the opportunity, what would you improve or change about Columbia?
A: Be more proactive about roads and water/sewer issues BEFORE doing new development, i.e., Scott Blvd delayed for years for widening, downtown developments going in with poor infrastructure and now paying the price with water/sewer problems. All could have been foreseen, but many in the city wanted those apartment buildings. Feel sorry for business owners who have their livelihoods negatively impacted by so many streets closings for last year’s buildings and street closures and now have to suffer street problems due to water and sewer issues.
